When Fatih Sultan Mehmed and his elite troops conqured Istanbul in 1453, they brought with them culinary traditions and food from their ancestors in Central Asia. In İstanbul, these traditions emerged with the local cuisine, in itself a mixture Greek, Armenian, Arabic, Balkan and European cooking.

The Topkopi Palace cuisine was this blending of culinary cultures from all corners of the Empire reached its highest peak. Ottoman history is not only written in boks but also in exquiste tastes and a rich variety of recipes. Matbah Ottoman Palace Cuisine will be honoured to receive you and your friends as guest on this journey through Ottoman food courts, and rediscover the tastes of forgotten dishes such as Matbah I Amiralar and As haneler.

The dates and names written underneath the different dishes refer to the historical written sources the recipes were taken from. In the Ottoman Place cousine,  they are serving 32 varieties of Ottoman meals between May 17 – June 3, for the 561st anniversary of conquest of Istanbul by Fatih Sultan Mehmet.
