The location of the Museum is the Office of the Heir Apparent inside the gardens of Dolmabahçe Palace Museum. As one of the most important projects of National Palaces, the Muesum of Paintings is the unique example in Isanbul inspired by the worldwide examples.

The Museum of Paintings will have 200 paintings on exhibition for the beginning.

The Palaces were not only residences of Ottoman Sultans but also the production centers of culture and art. Ottoman Sultans used to be greatest supporters of Turkish Art of Painting in educational and cultural breakthroughs by sending students abroad, ordering artists for new paintings, purchasing works of art from exhibitions, and hiring matured artists to be placed at the Palace and at the schools.

As part of this historic responsibility, after 5 long years of restoration efforts the Office of the Heir Apparent has been converted to a modern museum of art with contemporary museum standards, the National Palaces Museum of Paintings.

In the exhibition halls, there are 10 rooms and 3 ballrooms, covering an area of nearly 3400 m2 with more than 200 original paintings.
