Pick-up at hotel
Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning about an hour before the tour is scheduled to begin so you have time to change into your Ottoman costume! You’ll be ready for the adventure, in full Ottoman attire, as you board the bus, which stops at several hotels to pick up other tour participants.
The first stop of the tour is at the world-renowned Topkapi Palace, or the Sultan’s House. The Palace was the royal residence of Ottoman Sultans for 4 centuries, from 1465-1856. In addition to serving as their residence, it was also the setting for important state occasions. You’ll spend a couple of hours here on a guided tour.
You’ll then be photographed in your Ottoman costume in the Palace’s Rose Garden. This is also known as Gulhane Park, and a professional photographer will be on hand to ensure that you have a suitable souvenir of your Sultans Tour.
Following your visit to Topkapi Palace you’ll enjoy lunch in an Ottoman Restaurant, where you’ll have the opportunity to try traditional foods.
After lunch the tour moves on to Hagia Sophia, where you’ll be taken on a tour of the site as well as the traditional wooden houses that are located behind the museum. Once a church and then later a mosque, Hagia Sophia is now one of the principal museums in Istanbul.
You’ll visit the spectacular Sultan Ahmed Mosque, known as the Blue Mosque due to the blue tiles covering the walls of its interior, and also see another imperial religious structure, the Suleymaniye Mosque.
At the end of the tour the bus will take you back to your hotel where your guide will collect your Ottoman costume.
