Develi Restaurant first opened in Gaziantep in 1912; in1966 it opened a second branch in Istanbul in the district of Samatya. The restaurant with its classic atmosphere is one of the best reflections of the delicacy and richness of Turkish cuisine and is a destination for gourmets. It is especially known for its kebab with pistachio and while the menu includes the flavors of Gaziantep it also includes the tastes of the Aegean, the Mediterranean, and Central Anatolia.

After Samatya, Develi opened branches in other districts of Istanbul, namely Etiler, Nişantaşı, Florya, Kalamış, Ataşehir, Kadıköy,  and Tuzla. With the distinction of being one of the largest restaurants in the world, the Develi Ataşehir is spread over 7,000 square meters and occupies 6 floors. In 2006, Develi Samatya took a spot on  British newspaper The Observer’s “Best 100 Restaurants” list.
