Istanbul Modern
Accepted as Istanbul’s first modern art museum and located by the Karaköy port, Istanbul Modern is home to exhibition halls, a photography gallery, educational and social programs, a library, a cinema, a restaurant and a gift shop. Throughout the summer there are workshops for children between the ages of 7 and 12 on such subjects as painting, sculpture, photography, animation and performance in addition architecture and literature making it a great place for kids to start learning about art and culture.

Istanbul Toy Museum
The Istanbul Toy Museum is located in a five-story historical residence which once belonged to the family of the poet and writer Sunay Akın. It opened in 2005. The museum exhibits over four thousand toys from around the world from different ages. With each room designed as a different scene, it is possible to rediscover objects and moments from one’s lost childhood.
In addition to its exhibitions, the museum offers various creative workshops for children on topics such as ceramics, origami, mosaics, and puppets. The museum is open during weekdays (except Mondays) from 09:30-18:00 and weekends from 09:30-19:00. .

Rahmi M. Koç Museum
Located on the north shore of the Golden Horn in Hasköy, the Rami M. Koç Museum is Turkey’s only museum of industry. Divided into three sections and spread out over 27 thousand square meters, it is composed of the historical “anchor house” (Turkish: Lengerhane), the historic Hasköy dockyards and the Open Air Exhibition Space. The exhibition of classical cars and airplanes in the Open Air Exhibition Space is sure to interest children. There are also workshops for children on subjects such as painting, astronomy, sculpture, film, puppets, sea-faring, and dance. The onsite Fun Center is also available for birthdays. The museum is open everyday except Mondays. Its working hours are 10:00-17:00 on weekdays and 10:00-18:00 on weekends.

The Kite Museum
One of Istanbul’s most colorful museums, the kite museum was opened in Üsküdar in 2005. Here it possible for kids to see kites from around the world and the learn about kite culture. In addition to the kites themselves, there is a photographic exhibition explaining the history of kite flying, technical and story books and other similar objects. There are also workshops on kite flying for children as young as 3. It is the perfect place for your kids to learn about the colorful world of kite flying. Entrance is free and the museum is open everyday except Sunday between 09:00-17:00.

The Ural Ataman Classical Automobile Museum
Every visitor will a great time at the Ural Ataman Classical Automobile Museum, located in Tarabya, with its fine decor and fantastic automobile collection. The museum exhibits cars, motorcycles, trucks, fire trucks and turbines, and also sells great automobile accessories for car lovers. There is a very detailed exhibit explaining the history of automobiles and a gift shop where specially designed products are sold. Only open on Saturdays between 11:00-18:00, children’s birthday parties can also be celebrated here.
