TÜRVAK Cinema-Theatre Museum offers a fantastic education program for its young visitors. The Museum’s children workshops started in October and will continue throughout the year with different themes and surprise events.

Current workshops:

MASQUERADE DRAMA

Masks are the most indispensable, mysterious accessories of the performing arts and the universal symbols of the art of theatre and acting, with their laughing and crying faces. In “Masquerade Drama” Workshop, masks will be the parts of the stage in children’s imaginary world. Children will be both the designers of the masks and homeowners of a masquerade exhibition.

Age group: 5 years and older

Duration: 2 hours (Museum tour and workshop)

Dates: Week days (except Mondays) for school groups & special groups of min. 5 attendants

SHADOW PLAY: KARAGÖZ-HACİVAT

Inscribed as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2009, “Karagöz-Hacivat” is being performed only by a few dedicated artists today. In this regard, TÜRVAK Museum provides children the opportunity to learn about Shadow Play, history and the characters of the art of Karagöz, while they are designing and performing Karagöz puppets.

Workshops are supervised by the puppet artist Hakan Arısoy (VAVSanat) who is a member of UNIMA-Union Internationale de la Marionnette /International Puppet and Shadow Theater Union.

Age group: 6 years and older

Duration: 2 hours (Museum tour and workshop)

Dates: Week days (except Mondays) for school groups & special groups of min. 5 attendants

Workshop Fee: 25 TL

PUPPET-CINEMA

“Puppet-Cinema” is a workshop program which inspires children’s creativity and provides them a truly free environment. In the workshops, children will use different materials in order to make their own puppets which each of them will then turn into a film character.

“MY HERO/HEROIN”

Children will observe numerous movie posters during the museum visit and learn about poster design in detail. After discussing fantastic films and fantastic characters in cinema, they will create their own fantastic movie characters, in other words, heroes and heroines, and design posters for them with different painting materials.

Age group: 5-12 years

Duration: 2 hours (Museum tour and workshop)

Dates: Week days (except Mondays) for school groups & special groups of min. 5 attendants
