Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelich will be at Zorlu PSM on February 20th with his selection of beloved pieces from the most esteemed composers of piano!

Starting his piano training at age 7, Pogorelich quickly proved his talent and went to Moscow in order to study in the Central Special Music School and afterwards in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Having learned the subtleties of the teachings of Beethoven and Liszt from Aliza Kezeradze in 1976, the turning point in his career came when the renowned Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich accused the jury of Warsaw’s International Chopin Festival, in which Pogorelich failed to qualify for the final contest, claiming that Pogorelich was a genius. Always working to improve the young talents along with his own music career, Pogorelich set up a foundation in Croatia in 1986 which offered scholarships for young artists wishing to study abroad. He also held a contest in the German town called Bad Wörishofen which aimed to enable young talents to take the stage with renowned musicians.

On February 20th, Zorlu PSM will host the esteemed Ivo Pogorelich in a live performance which will feature beloved pieces of Chopin, Schumann, Mozart and Rachmaninov.

Programme:

Frédérique Chopin: Ballade n° 2 in F Major, Op. 38, Scherzo n° 3 in C sharp minor, Op. 39
Robert Schumann: Faschingsschwank aus Wien, Op. 26
