Sara Baras’ artistic career began over 20 years ago, and led her to perform in theatres all around the world. Her early performances in Cádiz, her hometown, are part of who she is. The family link is plainly essential to her style, in particular with Concha Baras, her mother, who was her first teacher and the person who exercised the greatest influence on her professional calling. She was also trained by maestros such as Ciro, Manolete, El Güito and Dania González.She has won most of the important awards in Spain such as the National Dance Award; Gold Medal to the Arts; Giraldillo de Oro for best artistic direction of Carmen at the Flamenco Biennal of 2009; Silver Medal of the City Council of Zaragoza; Flamenco Hoy award for best flamenco dancer of the year; MAX Award in Performing Arts for best female dance performer, best dance performance and best choreography for Juana La Loca; MAX Award in Performing Arts for best female dance performer for Sensaciones; Hija predilecta de Cádiz award; Gold Medal of Andalucía; and many others, as well as international awards such as Medaille de Vermeil de la Ville de Paris- France and the Premio Galileo 2000 award.
