Türker İnanoğlu, who is also called “Mr. Cinema” because of his invaluable contributions as director and producer to Turkish cinema and television for 55 years, founded the Turkey’s first and only cinema and theatre museum, TÜRVAK, in 2001. “TÜRVAK Cinema-Theatre Museum and Art Library” moved into its new building in Beyoglu and opened its new doors to Istanbulites in January 2011.
Aimed at preserving information and documents, photographs and posters belong to the history of Turkish cinema and theatre for the future generations, TÜRVAK Cinema-Theatre Museum houses more than 1000 cinema and television devices, 4200 copies of various Turkish films, more than 6000 Turkish film posters, more than 10.000 cinema-theatre stage photographs and over 12.000 hours of TV programs and TV series in its archive.
Türker İnanoğlu, founder of TÜRVAK, and owner of Erler Film and Ulusal Radio-Television companies, formed such an extended and special museum for the first time in Turkey. He realized this, as a result of his attempt with the accumulation of his professional knowledge covering approximately 50 years and with the facilities and work of the sector which is of utmost importance in his life. Moreover, primarily TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) and Necip Sarıcıoğlu, as well as the contributions of cinema appreciators and institutions made this possible.
The nucleus of the museum collection was formed by the ERLER FILM archive, which Türker İnanoğlu has accumulated and brought together throughout his career. Moreover, ads had been placed into newspapers conveying messages to filmmakers, cinema owners, special collectors, old filmmakers and their families. The message requested them to turn in old film and recording machines of 8, 16 and 35 mm, illuminating projectors, dolly, carriages, studio and laboratory devices as well as posters, photographs, leaflats, tracts, brochures, advertising material, scripts and books and magazines on cinema. The materials offered to the museum were thoroughly checked and evaluated by field specialists, those found convenient have been granted to the Museum.

TÜRVAK Theatre Museum
The TÜRVAK Theater Museum was originated with the fact that a significant number of performers, who formed the cadre of the Turkish Cinema, were of theatre origin, mainly of Darülbedayi. In this regard, showing his gratefulness to the early stage actors and actress, Türker İnanoğlu opened the Theatre Museum in 2001, together with the Cinema Museum.
