The Rahmi M. Koç Museum, located on the shore of the Golden Horn in Hasköy in an old Ottoman shipyard, is notable for being the first museum dedicated to the history of industry, transportation, and communication in Turkey.
Opened in 1994 by the Koç Group, the museum is built on an approximately 27 thousand square meter facility. The museum is composed of the historical anchor house (lengerhane) and dockyard (tershane), and an open exhibition space.
In its collection are historical land and sea vehicles, a printing press workshop, as well as different machines and scientific instruments. In addition there are various educational opportunities offered for children and youth by the museum.
The museum, which has since its opening been home to many different domestic and international exhibits, also has a cafe and restaurant.
